Art I- week of November 26th

ART I students began the creative process for the next project, the Themed Room, last week. Notebook Assignment #1 required students to brainstorm and select a theme that their one-point perspective room will be based on. Students additionally, listed, researched and sketched ideas for furniture, decorative items, and architectural elements. In class, students have started their 12x18 sketch to plan and problem-solve how all the required elements will realistically fill their interior space. 

The completed sketch will have the following items, all derived from the student-chosen theme:

• Five (5) pieces of furniture related to your theme. (balance of form and function).
• Five (5) decorative elements related to your theme.
• Three (3) windows/ doors total.

Art II- week of November 11th

Each ART II student selected 1 character that provides visually interesting characteristics the will be deconstructed, then composed into an abstract relief sculpture.

Using the visual information of that character, students created 3 different composition sketches using the simplified parts of their character.

KEY CONCEPTS in composing the character features:

- Variety in size, color, shapes, textures, and levels/angles.

- Altered scale- size relationship of parts.

All students are in the process of creating the deconstructed elements of their chosen character and assembling them into a cohesive and visually interesting composition.

ART I & ART II Sketchbook #6- Graffiti Name Designs

- Design BOTH vehicles on the template (subway train/box truck) with stylized lettering spelling your NAME/ ALIAS "tag".
- Fill the entire surface of each vehicle with symbols/designs/background.
- Vehicles must be designed DIFFERENTLY (different lettering styles/surrounding imagery).
- Must ADD Color/Value.

Art I- Week of November 11th

ART I students continued the development of their final One-Point Perspective Forms drawing. All students developed a unique collection of real-world objects and dimensional forms utilizing their knowledge and skills with one-point perspective. A 'connector' was then developed to create interesting movement throughout the composition, and add 'interactivity' to the overall dimensional space. Color value will be developed, utilizing a single light source, to emphasize the dimensional form of each object in the composition.

ART I Sketchbook #5- Themed Room Brainstorm, Research & Sketch

You will be designing/ drawing a room based on a theme, a single idea that unifies everything, using one-point perspective.

This Brainstorming exercise will begin the creative process and allow you to develop your ideas.

I. Brainstorm

• List five (5) possible themes for your room. (i.e. Nature)

Choose your one (1) favorite theme from your list and respond to the following:

II. Research

• List as many as you can think of/find objects/symbols/designs related to your theme. (minimum 20)

Use the list above to develop ideas for the following:

• List six (6) pieces of furniture related to your theme, which would go in your room. (i.e. a chair made of branches)

• List six (6) decorative elements that would be in your room. (i.e. vines, flowers)

• List the colors that would be dominant in your room.

• List four (4) interesting designs for windows and doors in your room. (i.e. leaf shaped window)

III. Sketch

Sketch ALL the ideas you developed in the above section above.

*3-dimensional drawings not required (only small thumbnails sketches).
