Art II- week of October 5th

Art II students will create a Split-Personality Self-Portrait.

This drawing must represent two distinct facets of their personality. Facial expressions, composition, color and symbolism will all be creatively utilized to convey the different personality traits of each artist. One portrait drawing will be in gray-scale value, the other in color value.

Students began brainstorming and sketching ideas and compositions this week. In order to capture the likeness of each individual face, students will use a mirror for direct observation or an image reference. The grid transfer method was explored as a process to accurately draw all the details and proportions of the image reference.
