-Develop color/value to emphasize your focal point and to create visual interest throughout your composition.

ART II- Altered Book Artist Statement

You will present your Altered Book by discussing/explaining the following ideas:


Write a paragraph for each of the following items.

· What is the purpose of your Altered Book? Why did you select this purpose?



· What are your 2 favorite spreads? Why? (Discuss the communication/design of each spread)



· Discuss the techniques/media you used throughout the book. How did you take advantage of media to represent your ideas?



Due for presentation on Exam day:
·   At least 12 HIGH QUALITY spreads.
·  Cover design/title.

·   Completed Artist Statement.

Art I SB#2- Theater Mask Brainstorm/Sketches

ART I Sketchbook #2- Theater Mask Brainstorm/Sketches

You will be creating a Theater Mask based on an animal character (either a hero or a villain). You will develop the storyline and the animal characters of the play. To begin the creative process, complete the following steps to gather and develop your ideas.

  • Create 2 lists of animals- list 5 animals that would make effective Heroes, and 5 animals that would make effective Villains. 
  • From the above lists, select your best 2 Hero character and best 2 Villain character ideas. (circle them)

  • Sketch 1 mask design for each of your circled animals. (4 sketches total).


Due date: Thursday 3-2
